§. 17. Wenn bey einem langsamen Tempo viele geschleifte Grundnoten auf einer Stufe hintereinander vorkommen, und man will sie mit der tiefern Octave verdoppeln: so geschiehet dieses nur bey der ersten und dritten, oder in den Triolen blos bey der ersten. Die untersten verdoppelten Noten werden alsdenn ausgehalten (a).	§17. If many portato bass notes occur consecutively in a slow tempo on the same pitch, and one wishes to double them at the octave, then one does so only on the first and third notes, or in triplets only on the first note. The lowest doubled note is then sustained (a).


Wenn dergleichen Noten aber geschwind und abgestoßen ausgeführet werden sollen, damit sie ein starkes Geräusche machen (b): so kan man nach der bey (c) abgebildeten Art vom Vortrage verfahren. Gar lange dürfen dergleichen Paßagien nicht dauern, sonst werden die Hände steif und müde.	Yet if such notes should be performed quickly and staccato, so that they stand out (b), then one can proceed as shown at (c). Such passages should not last too long, for otherwise the hands will become stiff and tired.
