§. 14. Punctirte Noten, worauf eine kurze im Hinaufgehen folgt, leiden auch Triller mit dem Nachschlage (e).	§14. Dotted notes followed by a short note a second above also tolerate a trill with termination (e).

Anstatt, daß sonst die letzte Note von dem Nachschlage allezeit in der größten Geschwindigkeit mit der folgenden verbunden wird (f):	While the last note of the termination is usually connected to the next one with greatest rapidity (f),

so geschiehet dieses bey punctirten Noten nicht, weil ein ganz kleiner Raum zwischen der letzten Note des Nachschlags und der folgenden bleiben muß (g). Dieser Raum muß nur so viel betragen, daß man kaum hören kann, daß der Nachschlag und die folgende Note zwey abgesonderte Dinge sind. Da dieser Raum mit der Zeit-Maaße ein Verhältniß hat, so ist die bey (g) befindliche Ausführung, allwo die Schwänzung der letzten Note des Nachschlags diesen Raum andeutet, nur so ohngefehr abgebildet.	this is not the case with dotted notes as there must be a very small gap between the last note of the termination and the following one (g). This space must be just small enough so that one hardly hears that the termination and the following note are separate tones. Since this gap is proportional to the tempo, the beaming of the last note of the termination at (g) only approximately indicates its execution.

Es rührt dieses von dem Vortrage der punctirten Noten, wovon in dem letzten Haupt-Stücke gehandelt werden wird, her, vermöge dessen die auf die Puncte folgenden kurzen allezeit kürzer, als die Schreib-Art erfordert, abgefertiget werden. Die bey (h) befindliche Verbindung des Nachschlags mit der folgenden Note ist also falsch. Es muß ein Componist, wenn er diese Art von Ausführung verlangt, solches ausdrücklich andeuten.	Due to this execution of dotted notes, to which we will return in the last chapter, the notes following the dot are always played shorter than written. Thus, the combination of the termination with the following note at (h) is wrong. A composer demanding this kind of execution has to indicate it explicitly.
