Man nimmt zuweilen bey einer Grundnote mit der falschen Quinte, statt der Sexte, die doppelte Terz, ohngeachtet die Sexte nicht wider die Modulation wäre, blos deswegen, damit, bey der Auflösung vorhergegangener Dissonanzen, die freyanschlagende Sexte nicht aufs neue einen widrigen Klang verursache (a); außerdem braucht man diese doppelte Terz auch, um einen guten Gesang zu erhalten (b), und Fehler zu vermeiden (c): | §4. Over a bass note with a diminished fifth one occasionally takes a doubled third, rather than the sixth (even if the sixth would be possible), simply so that the unprepared sixth does not cause an unfavorable sound at the resolution of a previous dissonance (a); in addition, one also requires this doubled third to preserve good voice-leading (b) and to avoid errors (c): |
