| §. 6. Wenn man nicht viele Zeit hat, seine Künste im Vorspielen zu zeigen, so darf man sich nicht zu weit in andere Tonarten versteigen, weil man bald wieder aufhören muß, und dennoch im spielen die Haupttonart im Anfange nicht zu bald verlaßen, und am Ende nicht zu spät wieder ergreifen darf.

§6. If one does not have much time to demonstrate his skill in preluding, then one must not modulate too far astray, because one must stop soon after; and in performance one may not depart the main key too soon at the beginning, nor return to it too late at the end.

| Im Anfange muß die Haupttonart eine ganze Weile herrschen, damit man gewiß höre, woraus gespielet wird: man muß sich aber auch vor dem Schluße wieder lange darinnen aufhalten, damit die Zuhörer zu dem Ende der Fantasie vorbereitet werden, und die Haupttonart zuletzt dem Gedächtniße gut eingepräget werde.

At the beginning the main key must predominate a while so that one clearly establishes the starting point; in addition, before concluding one must again linger a long time in the main key so that the listener is prepared for the end of the fantasy and, in the end, the main key is impressed well into the memory.
