32. Capitel. Von gewissen Zierlichkeiten des Accompagnements

Chapter 32. On certain refinements of accompaniment

§. 11. Die nöthige Ausfüllung langsamer Noten gehöret mit zur Zierde der Begleitung. Wenn das Zeitmaaß langsam ist, so kann man bey (a) die Puncte in der rechten Hand mit Doppelschlägen ausfüllen.	§11. The necessary filling in of slower notes also belongs to the refinements of accompaniment. If the tempo is slow, then one can fill in the dotted notes in the right hand at (a) with turns.

Wer diese Manier auch bey den Grundnoten hier anbringen wollte, würde in den Fehler der Undeutlichkeit fallen.	Applying this ornament to the bass notes as well would lack clarity.
Weil der Ton eines Flügels nicht allezeit hinlänglich nachklinget, und langsame und aushaltende Noten überhaupt auf diesem Instrumente etwas leer klingen: so kann man bey (b), wenn das Tempo langsam ist, ein Accompagnement wählen, welches die Grundnoten mit dem Puncte ausfüllet.	Since a harpsichord’s tone does not always sustain sufficiently, and sustained tones generally sound somewhat empty on this instrument, if the tempo is slow one can choose an accompaniment at (b) that fills in the dotted bass notes.

Dieses Exempel stellet eine Einleitungsclausel vor, wobey die Hauptstimme pausiret, und den Accompagnisten folglich in die Nothwendigkeit sezt, etwas zu erfinden, damit das Gehör nicht zu sehr leer gelassen werde.	This example presents an introductory passage where the principal voice rests, such that the accompaniment is prompted to invent something so that the ear is not left too empty.
Wenn die Hauptstimme in diesem Falle selbst mit den Grundnoten in die Folge einleitet, und mit Terzen, oder auf eine andere Art fortgehet: so bleibet der Accompagnist bey seiner einfachen Begleitung.	If in this case the principal voice enters afterwards with the bass notes, proceeding in thirds or in another way, then the keyboardist retains a simple accompaniment.
Ausserdem aber sind diese Einleitungsclauseln sehr bequem, den erfinderischen Geist des Clavieristen herauszufordern; nur muß man alsdenn seine Erfindungen dem Affecte und Inhalte des Stückes gemäß einrichten.	In addition, such introductory passages are very useful for challenging the keyboardist’s inventive spirit; one must be sure, however, that his invention is suitable to the affect and content of the piece.
Kann man etwas aus den vorhergegangenen Gedanken alsdenn anbringen, so ist es desto besser und man kann alsdenn, wenn es nothwendig ist, die Grundnoten ändern, und die Einleitung auf eine andere Art einrichten.(*)	If one can introduce something taken from a previous idea, then it is all the better, and in this case one may alter the bass notes if it is necessary, arranging the introduction in another manner.(*)
(*) In diesem Falle muß man dem Accompagnisten ebenfalls eine vernünftige Souverainität um so vielmehr zugestehen, je weniger die Hauptstimme dabey eingeschränkt wird.	(*) In this case one must also grant the accompanist a reasonable sovereignty that increases the fewer restrictions that are placed on the principal voice.
Bey (c) kann man zur Ausfüllung unter den beyden angezeigten Begleitungen wählen. Bey der letztern muß das Zeitmaaß langsamer seyn, als bey der ersteren. Die Hauptstimme kann bey diesen Exempeln eine Aushaltung, oder Pausen haben.	One can fill out example (c) according to either of the appended realizations; the latter requires a slower tempo than the former. The principal voice in these examples can have a sustained tone or a rest.





Wenn man bey (d) der Hauptstimme etwas voraus lassen, und die nachschlagenden Intervallen nicht mitspielen will, so kann man eine von denen bey (1) angeführten Begleitungen nehmen.	At (d), if one wants to give the principal voice some space and play intervals afterwards, then one can take one of the accompaniments shown at (1).



Verändert aber die Hauptstimme dieses Exempel, indem sie einen jeden Tact durch in der Terz der Grundnote ohne, oder mit einem Triller aushält (2):	If, however, the principal voice of this example sustains a third above the bass in each bar, either with or without a trill (2),

so wählet man das Accompagnement von (3).	then one chooses the accompaniment shown at (3).
