| §. 12. Die Noten, welche in eine Schlußcadenz einleiten, werden stark vorgetragen, wenn es auch nicht ausdrücklich angedeutet ist. Man giebt der Hauptstimme dadurch zu verstehen, daß man eine verzierte Cadenz erwarte, und daß man deswegen anhalten werde.

§12. Bass notes that lead into a concluding cadence are performed loudly, even if not expressly indicated. Through this one signals to the principal voice that one expects an ornamented cadence [cadenza], and that one will wait for this reason.

| Dieses Zeichen ist besonders bey dem Allegro nothwendig, weil die verzierten Cadenzen bey dem Adagio mehr eingeführet sind, als bey jenem. Die Hauptstimme pflegt oft in diesem Falle die letzten Noten vor der Schlußcadenz durch ein schleppendes Forte vorzutragen, damit die Begleiter vorher wissen, daß die Cadenz verzieret werden soll.

This signal is especially important in an Allegro, since ornamented cadences are more common in an Adagio than in an Allegro. In this case the principal voices often tends to perform the last notes before the concluding cadence with a sluggish forte, so that the accompanying players know that the cadence will be ornamented.
