| §. 4. Man beziffert die Orgelpunkte nicht leicht, sondern fertiget sie mit dem tasto solo ab. Wer sie beziffert, muß sich gefallen lassen, daß man sie demohngeacht tasto solo spielet. Es ist hieran nicht allein eine sehr nöthige Bequemlichkeit, sondern oft die Unmöglichkeit Schuld: und gesetzt, man könnte alle Orgelpunkte mit der rechten Hand mit begleiten: so würde doch der Dank dafür lange noch nicht so groß seyn, wie die Angst und Mühe, die es manchem dabey kostet.

§4. One tends not to add figures to pedal points, but instead to leave them tasto solo. Whoever figures them must beware that one nevertheless often performs them tasto solo. The reason is not only the great necessity of comfort [on the accompanist’s part], but often the impossibility of realizing the figures. Even assuming one could accompany all pedal points with the right hand, the accompanist’s gratitude would not outweigh the worry and inconvenience experienced by many.
