Chapter 23. On the unison accompaniment in the left hand alone

§. 7. Wir wollen noch folgende Exempel wegen unserer Art von Begleitung mit anmerken. Bey (a), wo die Hauptstimme mit dem Basse im eigentlichen Einklange anfänget, wird die erste Note t. s. gespielet.	§7. The following commentary concerns the use of unison accompaniment in the examples below. At (a), where the principal voice begins in true unison with the bass [i.e., the principal voice should not be transposed an octave higher], the first bass note is played tasto solo.

Bey (b) ruhet die rechte Hand ebenfalls bey der Note, worunter t. s. stehet, wenn auch Ziffern darüber ständen. Der Vortrag würde bey einer langsamen Zeitmaaße sehr leiden, wenn man hier der Hauptstimme in der Veränderung der Harmonie vorgreifen wollte.	At (b) the right hand also rests at the bass note marked t. s., even if figures were placed over it. The performance would suffer greatly at a slow tempo if the accompanist were to anticipate the change in harmony before the principal voice.
