Chapter 21. On the 5/4 chord

§. 6. Wenn man bey (a) den Quinten aus dem Wege gehen will, so muß man bey unserm Accord die Octave weglassen, und dafür die doppelte Quinte nehmen. Es gehet dadurch kein Intervall verloren. Diese Hülfe ist bey den zwey übrigen Lagen des Septimenaccordes nicht nöthig.	§6. If one wants to avoid [parallel] fifths at (a), then one must omit the octave in the 5/4 chord, instead doubling the fifth. In this no interval is omitted [because the octave merely doubles the bass note]. This exception is not necessary in the two other positions of the seventh-chord [over the previous bass note].

Bey (b) muß vor dem Quint-quartenaccord die doppelte Terz genommen werden:	At (b) the doubled third must be taken before the 5/4 chord:


wenn man aber diese letztere nicht haben kann, so muß man das getheilte Accompagnement wählen (bb):	if the doubled third is not possible, then one must use a divided accompaniment (bb):
