Fängt endlich der Schüler durch Anhörung guter Musiken an, einen etwas feinern Geschmack zu kriegen, so eckelt ihm vor seinen vorgeschriebenen Stücken, er glaubt, alle Clavier-Sachen sind von derselben Art, folglich nimmt er seine Zuflucht besonders zu Singe-Arien, welche, wenn sie gut gesetzt sind, und die Gelegenheit da ist, solche von guten Meistern singen zu hören, zu Bildung eines guten Geschmacks und zur Uebung des guten Vortrags geschickt sind, aber nicht zu Formirung der Finger.

§6. If the student finally begins to develop a somewhat refined taste through listening to good music, he is sickened by his assigned pieces. Believing all keyboard pieces are of the same kind, he resorts to arias in particular, which, provided they are well composed and if there are occasions to hear them sung by good masters, aptly contribute to the formation of good taste and to the training of good performance, but not to the formation of the fingers.
