§. 9. Man kann wegen des Anbringens dieser Manier nicht leicht fehlen, so bald man ihren Ursprung erweget. Wenn eine Note durch einen veränderlichen Vorschlag von unten um eine Secunde hinauf gehet, Fig. LXXXVI. [Ex. I:169] (a), und, ehe die folgende Note angeschlagen wird, ein neuer kurzer Vorschlag von oben darzu kommt (b), so entstehet zwischen diesen zwey Vorschlägen ein Punct und folglich unsre Manier (c).	§9. It is not difficult to avoid mistakes in the application of this dotted compound appoggiatura if you consider its origin: a lower variable appoggiatura ascending by a second as in ex. i:169 (a) is followed by another short upper appoggiatura before the following note is struck, creating a dot between these two appoggiaturas (b), and thus our ornament (c).
