| §. 4. Diese Manier liebt hinaufgehende oder springende Noten vorzüglich; bey herunter springenden kommt sie nicht so oft, bey fallenden Secunden gar nicht vor. Sie läßt sich im Anfange, in der Mitte, und am Ende eines Stückes finden. | §4. This ornament [the mordent] is preferable on ascending steps or leaps. It rarely occurs on descending leaps and not at all on descending seconds. It can be found at the beginning, middle, or end of a passage. |
