§. 1. Der Mordent ist eine nöthige Manier, welche die Noten zusammen hängt, ausfüllet und ihnen einen Glanz giebt. Er ist bald lang bald kurz. Sein Zeichen im erstern Falle ist Tab. V. bey Fig. LXXII. [Ex. I:152] nebst der Ausführung abgebildet; jenes wird niemals verlängert, diese aber wohl, wenn es nöthig ist (a).	§1. The mordent is a necessary ornament that connects the notes, fills them in, and gives them brilliance. It is either long or short. The symbol of the former and its execution are shown in Ex. I:152. While the symbol of the long mordent never gets extended, the execution does, if needed (a).
