§. 14. Wenn die Vorschläge Tertien-Sprünge ausfüllen, so sind sie auch kurz. Bey dem Adagio aber ist der Ausdruck schmeichelnder, wenn die Vorschläge bey diesem Exempel Fig. IX. [Ex. I:78] (a) als Achttheile von einer Triole, und nicht als Sechzehntheile gespielt werden. Bey (b) kann man die deutliche Eintheilung lernen.	§14. Appoggiaturas that fill in thirds are also played quickly. However, the expression is more charming in adagios when the appoggiatura is executed as the first 8th note of a triplet rather than a 16th, see Ex. I:78 (a). Their specific division can be seen in (b).

Manchmal muß wegen gewisser Ursachen in einem Gesange die Resolution abgebrochen werden, allda muß der Vorschlag auch ganz kurz seyn. Dieser Vorschlag, welcher bloß der Resolution wegen hingesetzt worden ist, muß deswegen ganz kurz seyn, damit die Haupt-Note, welche diese Freyheit verursachet hat, und dahero allezeit von besonderem Gewichte ist, wenig oder nichts verliere Tab. IV. (c). Die Vorschläge vor den Triolen werden auch kurz abgefertiget, damit die Natur der Triole deutlich bleibe (d) und widrigenfalls dieser Ausdruck mit dem bey (e) nicht verwirret werde.	Sometimes the resolution of a melody is terminated abruptly for certain reasons, and the appoggiatura then has to be very short, too. This appoggiatura, due to its resolution, must be very short so that the main note, which is the cause of such liberty, loses little or nothing of its importance, see Ex. I:78 (c). Appoggiaturas preceding triplets are also executed quickly in order to clearly maintain the character of the triplet (d) and not to confuse this expression with that of (e).

Wenn der Vorschlag die reine Octave vom Basse hat, so kann er auch nicht lang seyn, weil die Harmonie zu leer klingen würde (f). Bey der verkleinerten Octave hingegen findet man ihn oft lang (g).	Neither should the appoggiatura be long when it forms a pure octave with the bass, lest the harmony sound too empty (f). However, an appoggiatura producing a diminished octave is often long (g).

Wenn bey einer Cadenz, statt des Trillers, ein Vorschlag gemacht wird, so wird letzterer auch kurz. Z. E.	An appoggiatura in lieu of a cadential trill is also short, for example:
