| 25. Capitel. Von den Vorschlägen | Chapter 25. On appoggiaturas |
| §. 5. Wenn eine Grundnote ohne Rücksicht auf den Vorschlag, der darüber vorkommt, beziffert ist, und die Intervalle dieses Vorschlages und des darauf folgenden Abzuges sich entweder mit der vorgeschriebenen Aufgabe vertragen, oder wohl gar darinnen stecken: so bleibet man in der Begleitung dabey, welche letztere allenfalls vierstimmig seyn kann, wenn es nöthig ist. Folgende Exempel sind von dieser Art: | §5. If a bass note is figured without regard for the appoggiatura over it, and the intervals of the appoggiatura and its ending either are compatible with the harmony or are even already present in it, then the accompaniment need not be modified [i.e., the appoggiatura is not played], and can even be four-voiced, if necessary.
