Accord, welcher der Grundnote zukommt, mit dem Vorschlage zugleich angeschlagen: soll aber der letztere eine besondere Aufgabe haben, so muß man sie darüber setzen.

§20. If an appoggiatura appears before a bass note, then the chord belonging to the bass note is struck simultaneously with the appoggiatura. If, however, the appoggiatura has its own special figure, then the [principal] figure must be placed directly over the bass note.
