Chapter 19. On the 9/4 chord

§. 5. Wenn bey unserm Accorde, statt der Quinte, die Sexte gegriffen werden soll: so muß es durch 9/6/4 ausdrücklich angedeutet seyn. Diese Sexte kann alsdenn groß und klein seyn. Wenn man den Secundenaccord vom Grundtone nimmt, so hat man diese Aufgabe in der Hand.	§5. If, in this chord, the sixth should be played instead of the fifth, then 9/6/4 must be explicitly indicated. The sixth can in this case be major or minor. If one plays a 6/4/2 chord over the bass note, then one has this chord in the hand.


Bey der Auflösung der None und Quarte gehet zuweilen die Sexte in die Quinte mit herunter; es sind alsdenn nur zwey Lagen zu gebrauchen, weil man in der dritten Quinten machen würde. Die drey letzten Exempel sind von dieser Art:	The sixth occasionally descends to the fifth at the resolution of the ninth and fourth; hence only two positions are usable, since one would make [parallel] fifths in the third. The last three examples illustrate this.
