Chapter 19. On the 9/4 chord

§. 4. Die None kann bey diesem Accorde groß und klein seyn; die Quinte ist bald übermäßig, bald rein und bald falsch: die Quarte hingegen muß allezeit rein seyn, wie wir aus folgenden Exempeln sehen. Auch hier ist es besser, daß die falsche Quinte vorbereitet sey, als wenn man sie frey anschlägt. Die übermäßige Quinte muß vorher liegen:	§4. The ninth in this chord may be major or minor; the fifth is variously augmented, perfect, or diminished; the fourth, in contrast, must always be perfect, as we see in the following examples. Here too it is better that the diminished fifth be prepared, rather than entering unprepared. The augmented fifth must be prepared:
