§23. A true unison is when two or more voices come together on the same key on the keyboard. Therefore it cannot properly be called an interval. Generally one understands it to mean an octave; later we will return to this type of unison and treat it in detail. Some choose the expression “unison” instead of “prime” and indicate it with 1.
