| §. 21. Wir sehen also, daß die Manieren mehr bey langsamer und mäßiger als geschwinder Zeit-Maaß, mehr bey langen als kurzen Noten gebraucht werden. Besonders merke man, daß die Fälle, wo der Gesang sich zu etwas gleichsam determinirt und wo man wenigstens einen ziemlichen, wo nicht völligen Verstand oder Sensum hat, am liebsten die Manieren vertragen; dahero finden wir diese letztern am meisten bey halben und ganzen Schlüssen, bey Einschnitten und Fermaten. | §21. Thus we see that ornaments are used more often in slow and moderate tempos than in fast ones, and rather on long than on short notes. Observe especially that ornaments are most suitable in cases where the music seems to aim at something of which we have at least some, if not a complete, understanding or sense. For this reason we find such ornaments most frequently at half and full cadences, at caesuras and fermatas. |
