| §. 19. Die Gestalt unserer Hände und des Griffbrets bildet uns gleichsam den Gebrauch der Finger ab. Jene giebt uns zu erkennen, daß besonders drey Finger an jeder Hand um ein ansehnliches länger sind, als der kleine Finger und der Daumen. Nach dieser finden wir, daß einige Tasten tiefer liegen und vor den andern vorstehen.

§19. The shape of our hands and of the keyboard demonstrates, as it were, how to use our fingers. The former shows that three fingers in particular are considerably longer than the little finger and the thumb. On the keyboard we find some keys in a lower position, protruding in front of the others.
