I must mention here the treacherous attack of the Japanese
on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. For four years they fought
until President Truman ordered the atom bomb dropped on Hiro-
shima and Nagasaki, which ended the war with Japan but killed
and maimed thousands of people. Today, the 24th of May 1976,
the Concorde jet plane landed at Dulles Airport, another first
in aviation. They have flown to the moon and planted the US
flag on it. Who knows what the human brain will devise next?
Perhaps one of these days the Lord will come down to see what
they are up to like in the olden days at the tower of Babel.

By now I have made a long side trip. I have almost lost
sight of my mountain, and there is so much to tell yet. Through
all the trials of the wars God was with us so wonderfully. None
of our family had to go to the conflict. All our boys were kept
out and we have much to be thankful for. The children grew up
and left, raising their own families. We enjoyed the grand-
children and now the fourth generation is coming along.

So let us climb on .... I was lost a while in the wilderness,
and, like Christian in Pilgrim's Progress, went through the Sea
of Despond and came out of it again. We are now at the point
that is described so well in the last chapter of Ecclesiastes
about the old folks when life becomes a burden and one stumbles
around with the darkened eyes and the ears become dull and
they lock the doors so you can't get out and get run over by
the heavy car traffic. We fall and it is hard to rise again,
but we keep the end in our mind, and if God is kind to us He
will let us keep telling our fellow travelers who have heavy
crosses to bear of the good news of the glory ahead. It will be
beautiful when we all reach that wonderful City of God on top of
the mountain, where God will wipe away all tears from our eyes
and we will be able to sing the Lord's praises forever!

Looking back from the height of 85 years it has been a very
interesting life and all through the climb up the mountain, like
a golden thread, God's mercy and love glowed along the way, al-
ways encouraging with His Word. The Bible is such a precious
book. It is a great pity that many so-called wise people want
to tear it apart and cut out the main truths, causing so much
unbelief and confusion in the Church. It is evident that we are
living in the last times and that one of these days God will say:
"It is enough!" Our prayers are that before that happens Christian
unity will return. Nowadays so much love, peace and joy is
preached but where do you find it? Only the Lord can give it,
and He gives it to those that believe on our Lord Jesus and
follow after Him, bearing their cross. God has been sending
warnings for many years through natural disasters, like storms
and earthquakes and dreadful wars that changed nations, but
people still don't believe.

Once again it is June. The old poet said: "What is so rare
as a day in June? When all the earth is in tune, Nature puts
on her loveliest dress. The world is full of happiness." Oh,
beautiful June! June is supposed to be the month of brides,
