§. 36. Ob aber diese Fortschreitungen gleich ungeschickt seyn können, so müssen sie dennoch nicht falsch seyn: es muß nehmlich in der nöthigen Vorbereitung und Auflösung nichts versehen, und die verbotnen Quinten und Octaven müssen aufs strengste vermieden werden.

§36. Yet awkward progressions are not necessarily wrong; what matters is that the required preparation and resolution [of dissonances] are present, and that the prohibited [parallel] fifths and octaves are strictly avoided.
