In Ermangelung der gehörigen Andeutung wollen wir überhaupt zweyerley anmerken: erstlich, daß die Pausen, wovon wir in diesem Capitel handeln, nicht langsamer, als ein Sechzehntheil im Allegretto seyn dürfen; zweytens, daß die mit der Pause eintretenden Noten der übrigen Stimmen sich mit der vorausgenommenen Harmonie vertragen müßen. §3. In the absence of a proper indication, we would like to make two general comments: first, that the rests discussed in this chapter must not be longer than a 16th in Allegretto; second, that the notes of the other voices entering with the rest must be compatible with the anticipated harmony. The following examples will clarify my intent.
