| Der Beyfall, mit den das musikalische Publicum dieses Werk aufgenommen hat, reizte mich an, solches bey gegenwärtiger dritten Auflage noch mit Zusätzen und sechs neuen Clavier-Stücken zu vermehren, und so mein Versprechen, das ich in der Vorrede zur ersten und zweyten Auflage gegeben habe, zu erfüllen. | The acclaim for this work by the musical public has spurred me to expand its present third edition with additions and six new keyboard pieces, thus keeping the promise I made in the preface to its first and second editions. |

In the first (1753) and second (1759) editions this paragraph read: |

Sollte gegenwärtiges Werck bey vernünftigen Kennern einigen Beyfall finden: so würde ich dadurch angereitzet werden, dasselbe mit der Zeit, vermittelst einiger Beyträge, fortzusetzen. |
Should the present work find some favor with reasonable connoisseurs I would thus be encouraged to extend the same by means of a few contibutions in due course. |
